Visa shares sink over 5% after Amazon statement
Shares of Visa Inc. plunged more than 5% on Wednesday after Amazon.com said the company will stop accepting Visa credit cards that were issued in the United Kingdom from 2022 due to high transaction fees.
“As a result of Visa’s continued high cost of payments, we regret that Amazon.co.uk will no longer accept UK-issued Visa credit cards as of January 19, 2022,” Amazon noted in a statement released earlier today.
Visa’s stocks sank 5.40% to trade for $203.57 a share at 12:56 pm ET.
