Wall Street closes mixed after diverse data
Major stock market indexes in the United States ended mixed on Friday same as the data reported. Industrial production in the US decreased by 0.6% in September while the inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors in the United States rose by 0.3% in August. Consumer Sentiment Index increased by 1% in October and seasonally adjusted turnover in retail trade grew 1.9% on a monthly basis to land at $549.3 billion in September.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.39% higher with Caterpillar Inc. rising by 2.25%. Nasdaq 100 decreased by 0.39% as Lam Research Group fell by 2.80%. The S&P 500 stood flat. General Electric Co. was the best performer going up by 6.11%.
The euro rose by 0.10% against the dollar, going for 1.17179 at 3:59 pm ET.
