Wall Street closes mostly higher ahead of Fed meeting
United States major stock markets closed mostly higher on Monday as investors anticipate the Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for later this week, which will reveal the bank’s plans on interest rates and quantitative easing policies. Concerns revolve mostly around inflation growth, said to be transitory it could still be a sign of recovering economy and a potential end to supportive aid programs. Meanwhile, tech stocks were in the lead of the trading session.
The Dow was 0.25% below the flatline with JPMorgan Chase dropping by 1.70%, while S&P 500 was 0.18% higher as ResMed jumped 6%. The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.93% led by Marvell Technology growing by 3.26%.
The euro advanced by 0.10% against the dollar to exchange hands for $1.21214 at 3:59 pm ET.
