Wall Street higher in premarket ahead of Powell testimony
Shares on Wall Street turned to gains during premarket trading on Tuesday ahead of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s testimony on the economy on Capitol Hill.
Powell is expected to tell the House Financial Services Committee that the US economy “will recover fully from this difficult period” but needs more fiscal support to overcome the coronavirus pandemic.
The Dow Jones was up 0.30% at 7:37 am ET. At the same time, the S&P 500 rose 0.48%, while the Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.79%. The euro fell 0.11% against the dolar at 7:42 am ET, buying 1.17583.
