WH: Harris’ important diplomatic role is ‘normal’
The role that the United States Vice President Kamala Harris plays in the country’s diplomatic dealings with its key allies is “normal,” and in line with the behavior of previous vice presidents, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stressed on Friday.
Asked, during a press conference, if she thinks that US President Joe Biden’s scarce in-person contacts with world leaders mean that his term resembles “the third term” of the Obama administration, Psaki underlined that Biden has had “dozens of conversations and calls” with world leaders, stressing it is normal for Harris to participate in diplomacy as well.
“The vice president is also playing an important role, engaging with and having discussions with foreign leaders,” Psaki concluded.
