WH to ask Congress for further COVID-19 funds – report
The White House Office of Management and Budget is working together with the United States Department of Health on a COVID–19 spending package, the Washington Post reported on Friday. The plan is not yet finalized but the administration is expected to ask Congress for “tens of billions of dollars more,” according to three people familiar with the matter.
The sources explained the funds, if granted, will be used for buying vaccines and treatments, as well as for international coronavirus-related aid. They added that the request will likely be “necessary in the coming weeks” as the Omicron variant spreads through the country.
