WH wants US firms to ramp up cybersecurity
The Biden administration called on the United States companies to increase cybersecurity amid a “significant” rise in the “number and size of ransomware incidents.”
“All organizations must recognize that no business is immune to being targeted by ransomware, regardless of its size or location. We urge you to take the crime of ransomware seriously and ensure that your corporate cyber defense matches the threat,” Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology Anne Neuberger (pictured) said in an open letter on Thursday.
The adviser’s comments come following a series of ransomware attacks on American firms, with meatpacker JBS S.A.’s operations in the US, Australia, and Canada being the latest target.
