WHO recommends Moderna vaccine for emergency use
The World Health Organization (WHO) listed on Friday the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna Inc. as recommended for emergency use.
WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) gave a positive opinion regarding the vaccine’s safety and efficacy in January, paving the way for the Moderna jab to become the fifth vaccine to receive emergency validation.
The emergency use listing by the WHO helps the countries which are unable to conduct the vaccine assessment process start using the shot. It also means that the distribution through the COVAX program can now commence.
