Xi, Putin to have virtual meeting on Wednesday
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will have a virtual meeting on Wednesday, Beijing’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Monday.
The encounter will take place in the form of a video conference, Hua’s brief statement on the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website read.
The meeting comes shortly after Putin accused some Western countries of trying to “drive a wedge” in Russia and China’s relations. Beijing backed his words and added that “China and Russia will constantly expand the scope of bilateral cooperation, making it increasingly more intensive.”
