Zelensky invites Putin to meet in Donbas
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (pictured) invited Russian President Vladimir Putin via a video message on Tuesday to hold a meeting “anywhere” in the Donbass region.
Zelensky said that the Normandy format advisers and the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine discussed the possible restoration of the ceasefire, bringing up a proposal to come directly to the contact line and “see and understand the situation as accurately as possible.” The President added that Ukraine does not want war, but that it’s ready for one, stressing that his government will still continue to fight for peace through diplomatic means.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell’s stated on Monday that the situation at the border between Ukraine and Russia is “extremely dangerous,” referring to Russia’s recent military buildup in the area.
