Zoom to ban use of free app version in China – report
Zoom Video Communications Inc. banned individuals in China from signing up on its app, the Nikkei Asian Review reported.
According to the media outlet, starting May 1, just enterprises from the Asian nation with proof of business, as well as corporate banking accounts will be allowed to purchase the paid version of the app, while individuals will no longer be able to sign up. On the other hand, the people who already hold a free account will be barred from hosting meetings, however, they are set to still be able to join them.
The United States-based company, which was founded by a Chinese-born engineer, has succumbed criticism amid the current trade tensions between Wahington and Beijing.
